Payments Policy
How Lend Me handles money between borrowers and lenders. This policy applies in addition to the Rental Agreement, Deposit & Refund Policy, and the High-Value Addendum.
1. How a rental is paid
When a lender approves a booking, the borrower is charged two amounts on the same payment method:
- Rental fee — the lender's published price multiplied by the booked units.
- Refundable deposit — the deposit the lender set on the listing (subject to high-value minimums and borrower-tier discounts).
Both amounts are held on the Lend Me platform balance — not on the lender's account — until the rental ends and the timers below elapse.
2. Lender payout timing
- Standard listings: rental fee is paid out 3 days after the item is marked returned.
- High-value listings: rental fee is paid out 14 days after the item is marked returned.
- If the lender hasn't marked an item returned within 24 hours of the booking's end date, Lend Me auto-marks it returned and starts the clock.
- The Lend Me subscription is the only fee Lend Me collects from lenders — 100% of the rental fee goes to the lender.
3. Deposit refund timing
- If the lender files no claim within 72 hours of return, the deposit is automatically refunded to the borrower.
- The borrower can choose, per refund, to receive it as Lend Me credit (instant) or back to their original card (1–5 business days).
- If the lender files a claim within the 72-hour window, the deposit is held until a Lend Me admin resolves the claim — typically within 5 business days.
4. Claims & dispute resolution
A lender opens a claim from the booking screen and provides a written reason plus optional photo evidence. While a claim is open the deposit is locked. The admin decision determines how the deposit is split:
- Approved in full — entire deposit is forfeited to the lender; nothing returned to the borrower; the booking is marked deposit-forfeited (affects borrower tier).
- Partial — the approved amount is forfeited to the lender; the remainder is refunded to the borrower.
- Rejected — the deposit is refunded to the borrower in full.
5. Wallet (Lend Me credit)
- Refunded deposits credited to the wallet can be applied to future booking deposits first at checkout; any remaining deposit is charged to the borrower's card.
- Wallet credit can be withdrawn to the original card at any time (1–5 business days). It is a refund to your card and is not interest-bearing.
- Wallet credit is non-transferable and tied to your Lend Me account.
6. Late returns, damage, and loss
See the Deposit & Refund Policy for what counts as damage, late return, or loss, and the corresponding forfeit rules. If actual loss exceeds the deposit, the lender may pursue the borrower directly; Lend Me is not an insurer.
7. Chargebacks
A borrower-initiated chargeback against a rental will pause any pending payout for that booking. Repeat chargebacks may result in account suspension.
8. Updates to this policy
Lend Me may update this policy from time to time; material changes will be communicated by email and shown on this page with a new effective date.
