This addendum applies to any booking of a service listing on Lend Me — bookings where the "item" is someone's time, labor, or skill (photography, moving help, tutoring, handyman work, DJ, lessons, etc.).
1. Independent contractors. Service providers on Lend Me are independent contractors, not employees of Lend Me or of the client. Providers are responsible for their own taxes, licenses, tools, transportation, and any business insurance that may apply to their trade. Lend Me does not withhold taxes and does not issue W-2s.
2. Scope of work in chat. Before a service booking begins, the client and provider must confirm scope of work in Lend Me messages — what will be done, where, for how long, what's included, and what is excluded. Disputes are resolved against the confirmed scope. Verbal or off-platform agreements are not protected.
3. Deposit and no-show policy.
• Client cancels 24+ hours before start: full refund of any deposit.
• Client cancels under 24 hours or no-shows: up to 50% of the deposit is forfeited to the provider (compensation for the held time slot).
• Provider cancels or no-shows: client receives a full refund AND any deposit is returned in full, and the provider receives a reliability strike on their account.
• Service is started but not completed to the agreed scope: deposit may be partially or fully refunded based on completion %, evidenced by the in-app messages and proof-of-work photos.
4. Proof of work. For on-site services (photography deliverables, completed move, tutoring session, repair, etc.), the provider must upload completion photos or, for digital deliverables, mark the deliverable transferred inside Lend Me messages. The client confirms completion the same way they confirm a return on an item rental.
5. Prohibited services. Services that require state licensing — medical or therapy advice, legal advice, financial/tax advice, in-home childcare or babysitting, armed security, rideshare-for-hire — are not permitted at launch even if the provider holds a license. We will add a verified-license track for these categories later.
6. No adult services. Sex work, prostitution, escort services, pornography, and any adult sexual services or material are strictly prohibited on Lend Me, including as a service listing, in messages, or in any off-platform arrangement coordinated through the site. Solicitation of any of the above is treated the same as offering it. Violations result in immediate permanent ban, forfeiture of any wallet/credit balances, and, where required by law, a report to the appropriate authorities.
7. Background checks. Lend Me does not currently run background checks on service providers. Clients are responsible for evaluating the provider's reviews, account-health meter, and verification badges before booking — especially for any service that involves entering a private home.
8. Payments. Service payouts follow the same T+3 payout schedule as item rentals. Lend Me charges no processing fee on service bookings — providers keep 100% of the agreed rate, less the network's actual card-processing cost.
