This Terms of Data Use explains what Lend Me does — and does not do — with the data you give us.
1. What we collect
• Account data: name, email, date of birth, city, password hash, and the verification status we compute.
• Listing data: titles, descriptions, photos, pricing, deposit, pickup/shipping settings, and availability you publish.
• Booking data: dates, prices, deposit amounts, messages between borrower and lender, and the audit log of pickup and return scans.
• Verification data: identity documents, selfies, insurance proofs (for vehicles), and authenticity proofs (for luxury items). These are stored in private buckets.
• Operational data: device, IP, and browser fingerprints used only for security, rate limiting, and fraud detection.
2. How we use it
• To run the marketplace (show listings, process bookings, send notifications, route disputes).
• To verify identity, age (18+), and — for vehicles — valid insurance with uninsured motorist coverage.
• To score trust and reputation so honest borrowers and lenders are protected from bad actors.
• To detect and remove fraud, scams, prohibited items, and policy violations.
• To send transactional email (booking updates, security alerts, support replies) and — only if you opt in — marketing updates.
3. What we DO NOT do
• We do not sell your personal information. Ever.
• We do not share your verification documents with other users.
• We do not share your phone number with the other party. In-app calls are peer-to-peer and not recorded.
• We do not use your messages or photos to train third-party advertising models.
• We do not allow lenders or borrowers to see each other's payment instruments.
4. Who can see what
• Public (any visitor): your display name, avatar, city (not street), bio, public ratings, verified badges, and your active listings.
• The other party in a booking: your display name, avatar, public ratings, verified badges, and the messages and call signals tied to that booking.
• Only you and our review team: your identity documents, insurance, authenticity proofs, and the contents of any support ticket you open.
• Service providers: only the minimum needed to deliver their service (e.g., the email provider sees an email address and subject line).
5. Retention
• Active account data is retained while your account is active.
• Booking, message, and audit-log data is retained for 7 years after a booking ends — required for tax, dispute, and law-enforcement reasons.
• Verification documents are retained for as long as required by KYC/AML rules and then deleted.
• You may request deletion at any time. We will delete or anonymize what we are legally allowed to delete.
6. Security
TLS everywhere, HSTS, CSRF protection, row-level security in the database, private storage buckets, rate-limited APIs, CAPTCHA on sensitive endpoints, audit logging of every privileged action, and continuous review of access patterns.
7. Children
Lend Me is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from minors and will delete any account discovered to be under 18.
8. Changes
If we materially change this policy we will email registered users at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
